Parent Info

At Sunny Days we offer a wide range of activities and experiences which will meet the individual needs of all children, whatever their age. Children are encouraged to learn through play using toys and games in a variety of ways to keep learning fun. The range of daily activities is designed to build each childs confidence and independence. We include music and dance, computer skills and languages within our curriculum. These learning opportunities are developed using the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.

At Sunny Days Children’s Nursery we work towards a framework called the Early Years Foundation Stage and we use this to support children’s development, learning and care. We do this by working in partnership with parents, keeping children safe and creating a stimulating learning environment.

For more information about the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) visit the Government's website

Your child is important to us and so every child who attends Sunny Days Children’s Nursery is allocated a key person. A key person is a member of staff who has a special responsibility for your child. This is a named member of staff who will build up a close relationship with both your child and you. They will help your little one settle into the nursery and will be responsible for their care on a daily basis. For example. nappy changing/toileting, meal/bottle feeding and planning their activities to support their next steps.

At Sunny Days Children’s Nursery we understand that parents know their child’s interests and needs better than anyone else. Therefore we aim to build positive partnerships with parents to ensure that children are provided with the best possible care whilst they are at our nursery. We do this by exchanging information regarding your child on a daily basis by ensuring parents have access to information about activities and events through newsletters, parents notice boards and the news page of our web site. We also have an ‘open door’ policy for all parents which means they are welcome to come into the nursery and speak to a member of staff when they wish. We always listen to parents views, whether negative or positive and give advice or make suggestions

Our Staff

We believe that our nursery is only as good as its staff. The owner has over 20 years as a child development professional and manages the smooth running of the nurseries on a daily basis. We only recruit the highest caliber staff that are friendly, caring and experienced in childcare and will give your child plenty of love and understanding. We run a programme of continuous training and development for our staff.

Meal Times and Nutrition

At Sunny Days we believe that eating well is an important part of keeping healthy. Research has shown that children who eat a healthy diet are not usually ill as often, have more energy and a better attention span. Those children that don’t consume sugary foods and drinks often also have better dental health. The healthy diet we promote in the nursery is important in maintaining this good dental health. Healthy teeth help children speak clearly, poor oral health can affect a child’s appearance, which may lead to low self-esteem and reduced confidence.

Our food is freshly prepared on site by a qualified cook and all menus have been planned in conjunction with a nutritional advisor. We also cater for children with special dietary requirements such as cultural needs, vegetarians or those with allergies or intolerances to certain foods.

We have a comprehensive weaning menu for young babies and will work in conjunction with parents whilst weaning a baby. At meal times the children sit in small sociable groups and our staff sit with the children at meal times creating opportunities to learn about and enjoy good food as well as table manners.

Please see our news page for regular updates to our menu.

Policies

At Sunny Days we operate to a comprehensive set of policies, all of which have been inspected and approved by OFSTED. These documents are available for parents to view at any time in each nursery.
