Our Nursery
A little bit about us!

We are a family run business and established our nursery in 2002 having had personal experience of looking for a child care setting for our own children. The business has grown and we have continued to provide the highest quality childcare in a warm, friendly and safe environment designed to develop happy, confident and fulfilled children. Both owners have considerable experience in child development and family welfare and have a hands on philosophy to running the business.

Our nursery is in a large converted detached house in the heart of Boothstown with secure off road parking and minutes from the M62/M60 and the A57. The setting has a large safe enclosed garden/play area which is accessible to all children. The nursery caters for children between the ages of birth-5 years and is open from 07.30-6.00 Monday to Friday all year round closing for bank holidays only. (see location click here)
At Sunny Days we provide individual age-appropriate rooms for babies, toddlers and pre-school children.
Babies
Our baby room is bright and stimulating with age appropriate toys and equipment available for babies to play with. The room provides plenty of space for babies to explore their environment as well as having a designated area for messy activities such as painting, water and sand activities and jelly play.
The baby room is fully equipped with high quality furniture and learning materials which are on a low level providing babies with the opportunity to make their own choices. We also have baby feeding chairs and cots enabling babies to sleep and have meal times within their own room giving them a home from home feel.
Staff within the baby room follow babies individual routines and provide each baby with lots of care and attention. Activities involving high quality adult interaction are planned on a daily basis and this helps to support babies in reaching their full potential. Parents are given feedback each day relating to their child’s routine, meals, nappy changes and the activities they have enjoyed.
Toddlers
Our toddler rooms provide children with plenty of opportunities to develop new skills and engage in stimulating play experiences. The toddler room offers a variety of different areas for young children to explore. These include a cosy corner to sit and listen to a story, a construction area where they can investigate building, a messy table where they can create their own marks and art work and a malleable area for each child to explore a variety of materials. These static areas enable children to make their own choices and interact with other children.
Staff within the toddler rooms observe each child, note their interests and build upon this by planning daily activities to best suit their needs and enhance their development. Children within the toddler rooms begin to gain independence skills and self confidence as they are encouraged to feed themselves during meal times, seek to do things for themselves and begin to communicate their own needs.
Pre-school
Our pre-school rooms offer a range of exciting play opportunities for all children. The spacious rooms enable children to move freely around each of the areas as they decide whether they would like to dress up in the role play area, get creative with the paint, play dough, sand or water, choose their own resources in the small world and construction area or join in with stories and rhymes.
Enhanced activities with adult interaction and a structured routine are all part of preparing children for school. Children’s individual interests are encouraged and supported to enable them to develop their skills and reach their full potential.
Children develop their independence skills as they help to set up the tables for lunch time, wash their own hands and help to tidy activities away. The pre-school room also provides children with the opportunity to enhance their social skills as they form friendships with other children build positive relationships with staff and participate in group activities.
People we work with
At Sunny Days we work with a number of associations and regulatory bodies including our local Childcare Development Officers and Leading Teachers from Sure Start. We are also registered with OFSTED and our registration certificate is displayed in the Reception Area of each nursery.
OFSTED will undertake an inspection of the nursery on a regular basis as a part of their regulatory function and to ensure our ongoing compliance with their standards. If you would like to know more about OFSTED See www.ofsted.gov.uk for further details.

We are a member of the National Day Nursery Association which is dedicated to the provision, support and promotion of high quality care and education to benefit children, families and communities. See www.ndna.org.uk for more information. We have taken part in the NDNA Qulaity Counts scheme and have been accredited this in our Nursery.
